Time for New Intentions: the New Year at the Spring Equinox

Last year at this time, we had just attended our birthing class, still months from our due date, and then by April, we were parents. Last year at this time, I wrote this.

I could write about this past year, but I’ve done that. I could write about the equinox, but last year’s post is still my favorite. I could look for my moment of balance like I did in the fall, but if it doesn’t come to me, well, I’ll do some balancing yoga later today for inspiration.

The spring equinox this year, for me, feels more and more like the new year every year. January 1st lacks the spiritual symbolism that the equinoxes hold in my book. It’s such a vibrant time of new life manifesting all around us. We celebrate fertility, transformation, and birth. We welcome new weather patterns — storms, warm and wild winds, and rainbows. We watch as what was buried rises up from the earth toward the deepening daylight.

Last year is over, and I think that’s what I’m feeling most right now — that we made it! We made it and we didn’t give in to what could have been a very stressful period in our lives, our family dynamic, our marriage, the state of my health, and our spiritual life. In the end, the seasons come and go whether we followed our plans, acted on our dreams, listened to our souls, spoke our Truths, or just waited for things to “get more organized.” (We would’ve waited forever).

Time for new intentions. New growth. New creativity. Rejuvenation. New ideas. New patterns. Fresh perspectives. New surprises. New journeys. Time to shed that winter coat — to travel light without the burdens of yesterday.

Happy Spring to All!
